SUMMARY:Van's Jacks Surfboards Pro Contest
DESCRIPTION:Surf City USA shifts into contest mode each spring when the Vans Jack’s Surfboards Pro lands on the south side of Huntington Beach Pier. Sanctioned as a Men’s and Women’s QS 4\,000 stop on the World Surf League’s North America Qualifying Series\, the event dangles 4\,000 valuable ranking points—often the first big haul of the season—at surfers looking to climb toward the Challenger Series and\, ultimately\, the Championship Tour. \nHuntington’s peaky beach‑break wedges and long-running lefts create a high‑performance canvas that consistently draws a mix of rising phenoms and seasoned tour vets. Over the years\, champions have ranged from future world‑title contenders like Caitlin Simmers to Championship Tour mainstays such as Nat Young\, Sawyer Lindblad\, Crosby Colapinto\, Keanu Asing\, Lucca Mesinas\, and Kirra Pinkerton—underscoring the contest’s reputation as a launchpad for the sport’s next big names. \nBeyond the action in the lineup\, the shoreline turns into a mini‑festival: live commentary from the pier\, sponsor activations and games\, board‑swap vibes at Jack’s pop‑ups\, and plenty of ice‑cold beer.

SUMMARY:Big Bear Jeep Jamboree 2025
DESCRIPTION:Off-roading festival that offers a range of group trail outings for off-roading enthusiasts in the San Bernadino mountains. The 2025 Jeep Jamboree in Big Bear Lake\, California\, is an offroading festival that offers a range of trail outings for offroading enthusiasts in the San Bernadino mountains.  \n\n\n\nThe event tackles a range of trails\, from moderate to difficult\, offering options for a range of vehicles and driving skills. If you have a stock vehicle\, you’ll go on appropriately rated trails\, and\, similarly\, heavily modified vehicles can tackle more challenging trails. \n \n\n\n\nAbout Big Bear Jeep Jamboree\n\n\n\nJeep Jamborees are outdoor adventure events that bring together outdoor enthusiasts and their Jeep 4×4 vehicles. Originating back in 1953\, the Jeep Jamborees have a long history and tradition of providing participants with an off-road experience like no other. The Big Bear Jeep Jamboree is a prime example of this\, offering participants a journey back in time to California’s Wild West. \n\n\n\nRetrace the Steps of Miners and Loggers\n\n\n\nParticipants in the Big Bear Jeep Jamboree will travel along mining and logging trails used 165 years ago during the gold rush era. The rock-and-boulder-strewn trails offer incredible views of Big Bear Lake and California’s High Desert. Participants will cross streams where miners used to pan for gold and traverse the mountain’s edge for breathtaking views. \n\n\n\nA Tradition Dating Back to 1953\n\n\n\nThe first-ever Jeep Jamboree was organized by 4×4 pioneer Mark A. Smith in 1953. He journeyed across the Sierra Nevada Mountains using the old Rubicon Trail. The following year\, Willys Motors\, the manufacturer of Jeep vehicles\, became involved with the adventure and Jeep Jamborees have been an off-road tradition ever since. \n\n\n\nMandatory Requirements and Restrictions\n\n\n\nTo participate in the Big Bear Jeep Jamboree\, participants must have tow points and CB radios are strongly encouraged. Jeeps with tires over 40 inches will not be allowed to attend the jamboree and will be turned away at vehicle evaluation. No refund will be provided. For more information on COVID-19 and how the jamboree is handling the situation\, participants are encouraged to visit the Jeep Jamborees website.

SUMMARY:US Open of Surfing 2025
DESCRIPTION:The U.S. Open of Surfing is a week‑long contest staged each summer on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier in California. It serves as a qualification stop on the World Surf League pathway—classified as a QS 10\,000 (now Challenger‑Series) event—where competitors collect points toward the Championship Tour. Although IMG has produced the meet since 2000\, its roots reach back to 1959\, when it debuted as the West Coast Surfing Championship before adopting the U.S. Open name in 1994. \nThe event footprint extends well beyond the surf zone: vert‑ramp skate and BMX exhibitions\, a sponsor and vendor village\, athlete signings\, yoga sessions\, and occasional ticketed evening concerts run alongside the daytime heats\, which remain free to attend. Shade is scarce and parking around the pier fills quickly\, so its a good idea to arrive early\, pack sun protection\, and consider bikes or rideshare. \nAcross nine days the event typically draws crowds approaching half a million and\, according to local estimates\, generates more than $21 million in direct spending for Orange County. After more than six decades it has become a fixture on Huntington Beach’s calendar—part proving ground for emerging professional surfers\, part midsummer gathering for the broader action‑sports community.

SUMMARY:Huntington Beach Longboard Classic 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Huntington Beach Longboard Classic is a longboard‑only contest held each summer on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. Now a regular stop on the World Surf League Longboard Tour\, it features separate men’s and women’s draws where competitors collect ranking points while demonstrating traditional footwork and noseriding. Spectators can watch free of charge from the pier or the sand\, and the beach footprint remains smaller and more laid‑back than the nearby shortboard events. \nThe event window generally lands in early August\, with heats running about 8 a.m.–5 p.m. across four days as part of the broader U.S. Open of Surfing festival. Shade is limited and parking around the pier fills quickly\, so visitors are encouraged to arrive early\, pack sun protection\, and consider bikes or rideshare. Every heat is streamed live on the WSL website and app for those following from afar.

SUMMARY:The Wave — Coyote Buttes North August 2026 Permit Lottery Open
DESCRIPTION:Coyote Buttes North\, located in the Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness on the Arizona-Utah border\, is home to The Wave — a sandstone rock formation known for its sweeping\, layered curves and difficult access. Permits are strictly limited to 64 visitors per day and are distributed entirely by lottery through recreation.gov\, making this one of the most competitive permit draws in the American Southwest. \nThe lottery for each months opens several months in advance: see the table below. \nYou enter the lottery here: https://www.recreation.gov/permits/274309 \nThe windows to apply for August 2026 opens and closes in April. Applications are submitted at recreation.gov and winners are selected randomly — applying early within the window offers no advantage over applying later. The online lottery costs $9 per application regardless of outcome\, and winning permits are $9 per person. Each application can include up to six people. \nThe trailhead is located near the Utah-Arizona border outside Kanab\, UT\, and requires a high-clearance vehicle to access via dirt road. There is no marked trail to The Wave itself — navigating to the formation requires a map and basic route-finding ability. The permit includes access to the full Coyote Buttes North area\, which contains several additional formations beyond The Wave worth exploring if you make the draw. \n\nImportant Dates\n\n\nDates\nInformation\n\n\n\n\nJanuary 1\, 2026 – January 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during May\n\n\nFebruary 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during May\n\n\nFebruary 1\, 2026 – February 28\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during June\n\n\nMarch 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during June\n\n\nMarch 1\, 2026 – March 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during July\n\n\nApril 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during July\n\n\nApril 1\, 2026 – April 30\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during August\n\n\nMay 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during August\n\n\nMay 1\, 2026 – May 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during September\n\n\nJune 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during September\n\n\nJune 1\, 2026 – June 30\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during October\n\n\nJuly 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during October\n\n\nJuly 1\, 2026 – July 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during November\n\n\nAugust 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during November\n\n\nAugust 1\, 2026 – August 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during December\n\n\nSeptember 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during December\n\n\nSeptember 1\, 2026 – September 30\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during January\n\n\nOctober 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during January\n\n\nOctober 1\, 2026 – October 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during February\n\n\nNovember 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during February\n\n\nNovember 1\, 2026 – November 30\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during March\n\n\nDecember 1\, 2026\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during March\n\n\nDecember 1\, 2026 – December 31\, 2026\nLottery open to applications for permits during April\n\n\nJanuary 1\, 2027\nLottery runs at 9am MT for permits during April

The classic 10k climbs 1\,198 feet through oak forests and chaparral to Hub Junction before a fast descent back to Trippet Ranch — with a timed Downhill Mile that pays $250 to the fastest female and male splits. New for 2026\, the 15k Garapito course adds 4 miles of singletrack through the canyon before rejoining the 10k route\, with a $500 winner-take-all prize purse. A 1k kids race and a non-timed Hiker’s Delight option round out the morning. Both courses are fully supported with aid stations\, post-race tacos\, and a beer garden. \nRegister at UltraSignup.
