Campground Overview
Emigrant Campground offers a simple, no-frills camping experience, ideal for those looking for a quieter stay in Death Valley National Park. The sites are spaced to provide a sense of solitude, surrounded by the panoramic views of the Cottonwood Mountains and desert landscapes.
The campground has minimal amenities—potable water is available, and there are flush toilets located 270 feet down a dirt path just outside the main camping area. However, there are no showers, cell phone reception, or internet connectivity, so visitors should plan accordingly. Emigrant Campground does not have food storage lockers, so campers should store food securely to avoid attracting wildlife.
The absence of fees and the first-come, first-served nature make Emigrant an accessible option for budget-conscious campers. While campfires and charcoal grills are not allowed, gas-burning stoves are permitted for cooking needs.
The remote location and absence of modern conveniences contribute to an authentic and immersive outdoor experience, perfect for those wanting to explore Death Valley’s vast landscapes.
With its proximity to key park attractions and the Stovepipe Wells Ranger Station, Emigrant Campground serves as a great base for day trips and excursions throughout the park, including visits to nearby canyons and scenic vistas.
