Campground Overview
South Carlsbad State Beach Campground is located 4.3 miles south of Carlsbad and 5 miles north of Encinitas, both incorporated towns in San Diego County. The campground sits atop coastal bluffs overlooking the narrow strip of beach of South Carlsbad State Beach.
Amenities
The campground is arranged in two loops that extend north and south from the campground entrance off Coastal Highway 101. There are 130 sites in the north loop and 92 sites in the south loop.
The sites are organized into two rows. The sites on the western side overlook the beach below, and the sites on the easter side are closer to Highway 101. Generally speaking, the sites on the bluffs are more desirable, due to the ocean view and less noise from the road.
The campsites have picnic tables and fire ring/grill combos.
