Campground Overview
Texas Springs Campground is situated above Furnace Creek, providing campers with scenic views of Death Valley’s sweeping desert landscape. The elevation helps moderate temperatures compared to the valley floor, offering a more comfortable stay during cooler months. Open from mid-October through mid-April, the campground is designed to cater to both tent and RV campers, though no electric hookups are available.
Each campsite is equipped with a fire grate and a picnic table, and potable water is available seasonally. Flush toilets and trash collection are provided when the campground is open, contributing to a more developed camping experience compared to more primitive sites. Showers and food storage lockers are not provided.
The campground is popular for its quiet atmosphere, as generators are not allowed. Visitors should also note that there is no internet connectivity within the campground, though cell phone reception is available year-round, albeit limited and dependent on the carrier. For those needing internet, it may be accessed for a fee at the general store less than a mile away in Furnace Creek.
Campers are reminded to follow all National Park Service regulations, including maintaining quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, ensuring that fires are only in provided fire grates, and securing food and trash to prevent wildlife disturbances. Pets are allowed but must be leashed and supervised at all times.
Texas Springs Campground offers an excellent base for exploring Death Valley’s attractions, including nearby Furnace Creek, Badwater Basin, and the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. It’s a favored spot for those seeking a balance between convenience and the rugged beauty of the desert.
