Each campsite is equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and lantern holder, providing the basic comforts needed for a pleasant camping experience. The campground is surrounded by the unique rock formations of the Alabama Hills, creating a stunning backdrop that attracts photographers, hikers, and climbers.
Potable water is available on a seasonal basis, and a dump station is accessible for a fee. Note that dump station is closed during winter months. The closest amenities, such as grocery stores and restaurants, can be found in the town of Lone Pine, approximately 5 miles to the northeast.
For group camping, a dedicated site can be reserved, accommodating up to 15 people with six picnic tables and four fire pits. Equestrians will appreciate the two available horse corrals, with the condition of using weed-free hay. Visitors should be aware of the 14-day stay limit, which extends to a maximum of 28 days per calendar year for all BLM-managed campgrounds in the Bishop Field Office region.
Fire regulations vary by season, and campers are advised to check current fire restrictions on the BLM website or by calling the Bishop Field Office. Generally, campfires are permitted within established fire rings, though a California Campfire Permit is not required for such use. Please check the BLM’s website for information on current fire restrictions or call the Bishop Field Office at (760) 872-5000.
There is also ample dispersed camping in the area, if you are looking for more solitude.
